Wedding

I finally got a good picture of Kolea's blue eyes and strawberry hair.

Ryan and I were having a moment.  What kind of moment?  Just a moment.  =)

Hunter and Gabriella couldn't get enough of the dancing.  I've never seen Hunter so sweaty! 

Grandpa and Gabriella took their turn on the dance floor.  Grandpa really knows how to "kick it!"  Gabriella was having the best time.

Family friend, Steve Cole got remarried on Saturday, 9/13.  It was a small wedding with big attitude.  Our family had a lot of fun being together, enjoying one another's company, and dancing up a storm!

Also, the aunties and uncles loved doting on their new little niece.  Can you blame them?

Baby Kolea and Kids

I realized that I haven't been fully taking advantage of the fact that I have a newborn and that I need to take lots of fun photos of her!  So, I busted out the camera and went for it over the last couple of days.  These pictures are some of my favorites that I've been  playing around with on the computer.  I can't believe Kolea is nine days old!  And she is already getting a double chin.

As a funny side note my dad told me that in our ward (yes, we are in the same ward) he is the 4th oldest person and my mom is the seventh oldest.  And Kolea is the youngest.  =)   

She Has Arrived!

Kolea (Cah-lay-a) Hitz was born Friday, August 29th at 5:09 am.  She was 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 19 inches long.  She has light brown hair and blue eyes.  Hunter and Gabriella are very proud of their new sister.  She is an absolute gem!

Labor was very short (thankfully) but incredibly intense.  And funny enough, I delivered on my hands and knees.  I didn't plan it that way- it just sort of happened.  However, since I did it all without any pain medication it was totally the way to deliver.  I was able to be in total control when it came time to push.  Is this all a bit TMI?  

Well, my mom was my doula and she was absolutely fantastic!  I couldn't have done it without her.  Ryan's mom was also in the delivery room as my personal masseuse and Camille (my sis) was our photographer-- although I'm still waiting for those pictures.  =)

Kolea has consistently been sleeping 5 to 7 hours a night since we brought her home- don't hate me!  I totally consider myself lucky and I am enjoying it.  It's nice to wake up each morning without a sleep hangoever and be able to enjoy my baby right away.  But what are the chances it will last?  Who knows, but we aren't complaining.  She is an angel baby and we truly feel blessed that she is now a part of our eternal family.

 

August Excitement

So besides anxiously awaiting for the arrival of this baby (one week till "D" day) we have been busy with a few other things such as Hunter wrapping up his 3rd session of Taekwondo.  In this video he is doing part of his test that led him to receive his yellow belt at the end of class.  Great job Hunter!  

Also, I was the epidome of the clutzy 9 month pregnant woman and took a bit of a fall Sunday night which left me with two sprained ankles.  Yes, BOTH of them!  I spent the first 48 hours totally off my feet and icing my ankles as much as I could bare it.  Thanks to plenty of family and friends helping that was even possible.   To get around I would be on my hands and knees with garden pads over my knees.  Not a pretty picture.  I semi-graduated to crutches, but my pregnant body is so dang heavy that it was very dificult to manage when swinging BOTH feet.  Nice huh?  Anyhow, thanks to a blessing Ryan gave me the night of my fall I am doing incredibly well at this point.  I am walking (with baby steps) unassisted by other means than my ankle braces.  Yeah!  Now I feel comfortable to go ahead and have this baby again.    =)

Pizza Oven

Ryan and his bro, Skyler showing off their pizza skills next to the recently completed pizza oven.  Ryan built the pizza oven from the ground up (nearly single-handedly.)  It takes only 2-3 minutes for a pizza to cook, and the pizza that comes out of it is amazing!  What a talented man I married!  

Alaska

My mountain man in Alaska.  One of the more exciting tales was when Ryan was salmon fishing along the river and a grizzly bear showed up 20 feet away to do his own fishing.  I don't think Hunter is quite old enough for me to let him join daddy on this type of "boys trip."  Can anyone blame me?     

Colorado

Hunter is feeding this giraffe right out of his hand!  It was amazing!  This was at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.  This zoo sits on the mountain side- a lot of walking- but well worth the sites.
